In California, my Uncle took me to the Irwindale California Speedway. Lots of Drag Racing muscle cars. Unfortunately, the car we took was not a muscle car. But it sure packed a punch. A late 70's Mitsubishi lancer with a '88 Mazda 7 RS rotary engine. It was an amazing machine. As a car, it held up pretty well vs the muscles, but when I was behind the wheel . . . well, let's just say, I never drag raced before.

This is an event that happens every Thursday and for USD 20, any tom dick and harry can bring their car to race here as much as they wanted.

Below is the pic of the lancer and my uncle.

More cars. These monsters packed some serious muscle under the hood.

not sure if it is the same one but back in the 90's when i used to live in SoCal my uncle who was into oldschool japanese cars had a friend who had a rotary engine lancer. I remember the guy let me ride around the block. that thing was so fast. acceleration is the same feeling as a jet taking off...

Probably the same guy. I think these lancers are rare here, add the rotary, that makes it really rare. What's the name of your uncle? I'll ask my uncle if he knows him.

Hi bublebee, I live close to Irwindale California. I live in Duarte where the 605 and 210 Freeways meet. Are you still in So Cal? There are few local car shows this weekend. One in West Covina on Saturday (http://www.socalcarculture.com/Images/103109Motorama.pdf),

one in Whittier tonight
( http://www.socalcarculture.com/Images/Crui...bysWhittier.pdf ) and one on Sunday in Glendora ( http://www.socalcarshowdjs.com/ )
Those above show lists are the ones that I go to (closer to home).
Where are you staying? What city? In case you wanna go to a local show check out the link below.....

Hi Luckyone. I'm staying in El Segundo with the relatives of my wife. Thanks for the info on the car shows. If sked permits, I'll try to see which one I can attend.

Franz, here's the John Force Cruise-in I was telling you about. I was not able to make it ( had to change the wife's car's brakes).

Steely, yup. A duster. Was able to take what was under the hood. A badass big block.
